Whoever said girls with glasses ain't got no asses?

My stay in Atlanta is coming to an end, and with only a week left I'm celebrating! I wish I had thought this blog through completely at the beginning of the summer. I definitely would of made a log of every cheesy line a jonsa (translation: homeless guy) has said to me.... I thought Nassau boys were bad. But we seem to only just be learning! Yesterday, on my way to catch the marta (subway in Atlanta), I was greeted by a jonsa asking me "Who ever said girls with glasses ain't got no asses?".... o.o ... If you wear glasses please do me a favor: turn around and check your butt. Do you have one? Do you have multiple? That is all ;)

The Beginning

So I guess it's time for my first post. I have been wanting to start a blog since the beginning of summer. I think it will be the best way to keep my family and friends involved in my trip to Greece, because I can guarantee that no one is going to want to wake up 3am in order to fill you guys in on the adventures I am having... So here you go. :)

The biggest question of the summer has been what to name my blog. What is interesting enough, yet simple and elegant enough to reflect on my life? After a lot of research and definition searching, it came down to either fernweh or wanderlust. More than likely, unless your German or random like me then you have no idea what this means (well you may know wanderlust... it's english after all). Wanderlust is the desire to travel. It is a very beautiful word that definitely fits the theme of my life, and mostly everyone that will be reading this blog. Fernweh however is a word I stumbled on that holds so much more meaning. Like wanderlust, it means to have a strong desire to travel.... but fernweh, fitting the German characteristic, holds soooo much more meaning in such a beautiful, simple word. It is not simply a desire to travel but rather a pain. In English is translates to a "farsickness", the opposite of being homesick. Instead, I am sick to travel. The desire that I have to travel places I've never been is stronger than ever. It defines how I have felt for the past five years. Being from an island, graduating high school and attending college in the US, I am finally getting to travel!
I guess now you may wonder where'd the curls come from? It's me! It has always been me and will always be me. Anyone that has ever met me has noticed my bushy curls. I have never been able to control them. Think of them as my signature; unruly, and undefined. This blog will be where I journal about my life, where I am, where I'm going, and maybe just a few funny stories, or random blogs will come from my adventure. Expect to see horrible, quick sketches and watercolors of Europe, and experience all of my freak out moments with me as I'm likely to be followed by some hobo where ever I am.
